The pursuit of American Dream itself can lead to crime. The American dream is a materialistic dream; the success and fulfilment of wealth. The success is achieved by working hard and achieving your goals but when people leave school without prerequisite they face a miserable future no matter how hard they work, which leads to criminal behaviour. Working class are the ones that feature in criminal statistics because people without opportunities become frustrated and turn to crime as a way from escaping the real world (Vanlamka, 2014). Strain theory points out that those WCC criminals are opportunistic and motivated rather than social control theory points out that people behaviour is learned from childhood. The world and economy has undergone continuous changes from the globalization of world economies and this is the major concern driving the need for these reforms (Sevage, 2014). Australian system of education offers primary, secondary and tertiary education. Both the primary and the secondary level are compulsory. The tertiary level of education which includes higher education and vocational education and training has proved to be important. The government has shown its effort to ensure that when students are done with senior school, they join universities and colleges. This paper will attempt to discuss the reforms of education in Australia. The meaning of the word reforms in this paper is; the action or process of reforming or putting a change into an institution. Five major challenges evidence in the Australian education system will be discussed. The reforms taken to overcome these challenges will also be discussed. This paper will basically point out the education reforms by introducing or talking about the challenges first. This paper will be important for the school management and most importantly for the government in an attempt to put under control these challenges in order to improve the Australian quality of education (Masters, 2016). The Analysis The first challenge in primary, secondary and the tertiary levels of study is inadequacy of funds. According to Connors and McMorrow (2015), the distribution of resources between and within school sectors have been affected by recurring themes and political forces, and the policy issues and tensions. The schools lack enough money to run and attain the set goals and objectives. Australia has the government and non-government schools in its different states and territories. The government schools which are also known as public schools are free to attend. This however applies to Australian citizens and permanent residents. According to Dow (2015), the government only caters for fees and this does not cover for other charges such as textbooks and uniforms. Therefore students who cannot cater for the other charges are disadvantaged. This affects individual students and the school generally. Research shows that most of the low performers are from a poor socioeconomic background. A conclusi on can therefore be drawn that inadequate funding does affect performance negatively. This is a challenge in the education sector of Australia. The government of Australia has however taken steps towards this challenge. The liberal paper wrote of the Turnbull government having set aside an addition of 1.2 billion dollars for education funding and reforms in the schools (Masters, 2016). A promise of school funding that will grow every year is something that the government voiced to the people. All this has been done with an aim of lifting the students performance and results. The second challenge in the education system is that of unqualified teachers. Field Rickards observed in his report the main challenges facing teacher education in Australia, that the country has too many teachers yet there is an undersupply of specialist teachers. This has resulted to teachers working out of their expertise. The government has looked in to this problem and reforms have been made. The federal government has issued a new requirement. Flexible learning arrangements focused on growth will be set. Teachi ng will be personalized so that terms such as success and failure can be redefined. Another challenge in the system is that of identifying the needs of the students who may be termed as low achievers. Students have varying levels of cognitive, physical, social and emotional abilities. Students who do not meet the minimum standards of achievement end up lagging behind in every school year. Andy (2016) noted that the government therefore has made reforms which will enable the teachers to get hold of them and study them early enough and work towards helping them. Recommendations I would recommend that the problem of political forces and policy issues be solved so as to ensure the distribution of resources in the Australian schools is efficient. There also should be a teachers board that would monitor the teaching practices to ensure that the teachers are qualified in advancing education to the students. The curriculum should be changed regularly to accommodate the necessary changes that may improve the acquisition of education in Australian schools. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte Essay Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte is a 19th century gothic novel. The book is the story of love and twisted relationships with a splash of heart ache and evil. Heathcliff and Catherine the main characters are supported by a range of others whom interact with them to keep them apart. The novel has been widely read and made into several movies. The Masterpiece theater production of Wuthering Heights from 1996 is a good rendering, but there are several differences between the book and the movie. In the book Heathcliff’s character is developed with complicated personality traits. He is brooding, angry, compassionate and loving. The movie on the other hand, Heathcliff is a bit softer not exactly the dark skin gipsy you would be expecting. Tom Hardy the actor portraying Heathcliff gives a modern day performance of a softer and mellower person rather than the dark and broody character of the novel. The book also has a narrator a character named Lockwood. Lockwood is the character Bronte uses to progress the story along. Lockwood rents the Manor House from Heathcliff. He is rather ignorant gentleman, so he is not keen on being within the boundaries of Wuthering heights. The movie does not provide the audience with a narrator; however, it provides the use of flashbacks to progress the story along. Bronte uses ghosts in the book Wuthering Heights they represent Heathcliff’s emotions. For example the ghost of dead Catherine represents Heathcliff’s guilt and shame. In the movie the director uses nightmares, visual effects and music to represent the emotions of shame and guilt. Both allow the audience to understand the feelings of the character. Although two different representations are used the shame and the guilt of Heathcliff is understood by the audience. Both the book and movie convey the character in depth emotional makeup. The physical aspects of the novel and the movie are different. In the novel Wuthering Heights word description of scenery allows the readers imagination to create. In the movie actual locations are used which give a more define and detail oriented landscape. The castle used in the movie is dark brick and dates back to the 17th century and represents gloom. The movie also shows the viewer the gloomy surroundings of Wuthering Heights; giving the audience a visual clue to the emotions of the character. Catherine’s daughters home Thrushcross Grange is portrayed as simple cottage allowing the audience to visualize peacefulness and happiness. The movie doesn’t give the viewer excitement the way the book does; therefore, it doesn’t give â€Å"that† page turning experience. The movie comes across as if Heathcliff is a demented man with a cross to bear not really giving you the background of the story. While the book gives you the detail of the passion and betrayal that created this man. All the characters are more defined and developed because of Bronte’s artistic writing style. The movie being constrained by time and other factors can’t fully envelope the characters of book. In conclusion, I would choose a book over a movie. Bronte’s writing style is something that sparks the imagination and the readers are enthralled by the tale from page one to the end. The movie only can offer a short time of entertainment. I rather have the adventure of a good read coming to know the story and characters over time with the flip of the pages. .

We are to leave here today with a new set of wings. Wings of which we have crafted through our years of attending school. Some will soar high with their strong wings built of good personality and hard work; others will glide through life needing repairs. If we leave here today with one thing, let it be the power to achieve the goals that we’ve set forth for ourselves. Most of us have been helped through our four years at Big Falls, whether it be Bridgette Moore with advice on life, Mr. Bridgett checking if you’re on track to graduate, Mr. Young always letting your flaws stand out, Mr. Nrure pushing you to not make any bad decisions and especially Mr. Floss who taught me that a woman can go beyond the stereotypes and learn how to weld. It’s now time for us all to build our own lives and express our true individuality. Think for a moment about all that we’ve accomplished; we’re a strong group of kids with a world of hope waiting for our true colors to shine through. Together we’re a rainbow in the sky. Life has put in front of us many doors, it is only up to us to build behind those doors. Fellow graduates — let’s show society what can be made out of our time and fly out of here today with your wings spread wide, your head held high and your hopes as bright as sunshine. Let your dreams lead the way, only stopping to make the best of everything. Let’s take what we’ve learned throughout the past 13 years and astound the world with our minds. Causes Of The Civil War - 1740 Words

The Civil War was not an event that erupted overnight or something that no one had seen coming. It was a result of long stemming conflicts. â€Å"The road to civil war was complex and multi-faceted† (Wells, 1). These conflicts kept creating a divide amongst the states in the nation. The divide finally became so great, that the United States split into the Confederacy (South) and the Union (North), and fighting erupted. â€Å" â€Å"The Civil War,† Randall Jimerson observes, â€Å"became a total war involving the entire population precisely because both sides fought for ideological principles. Compromise and surrender were unthinkable when so much was at stake.† †(Finseth, 16). By the terms slavery or slave(s), not being mentioned in the Constitution, the Constitution was seemingly trying to protect slavery and its slave holders. It also appeared to show that slavery was a domestic institution that was only to be controlled by the states, and that Congress and the federal government had no control in the matter. This issue on States’ rights created a division between the North and the South on the states’ right to own slaves. A second issue that arose and caused a big division in the nation was a result of the economy. The northern states operated off a total different form of economy than the southern states did.
